Hike In the Woods

This weekend I visited the Horatio Colony Nature Preserve with my girlfriend to examine some of the different plant species. It was always intrigued me how the species vary depending where you go. I recommend you take some time to check this spot out , there was a lot of different species I encountered. Although I got some good pictures, I would have had more if my phone didn't die.  This was my first time visiting a trail in Keene, and overall it had a lot to offer.

We saw different types of trees throughout our hike, some had smooth bark while others had a more ridged texture. I asked myself why this was the case? I am planning on researching this more to get a better answer in my next blog post.

Being in nature made me feel calm, there was no traffic sounds or anything that resembled a city like I am used to. This past week was stressful for me because I had many assignments due and not much time to do them.  It was refreshing to get away and I will be exploring more local trails in the future. After I came back from the hike, I felt like I could concentrate better on my work. I am usually confined to my room to do my work but getting out before really helped me focus better. The trail reminded me of the Lynn woods reservation which is a place I frequent often when I am home. Next time I hope to document more animal life as it was difficult to see when I went.
